Captain David
Captain David Burlison grew up fishing offshore in San Diego, California, where a generous crew member took him under his wing and sparked a lifelong passion for the water. Since then, David has dedicated his life to sharing that same excitement with others, giving people the opportunity to experience the thrill of fishing — whether it’s their first trip offshore or their hundredth.
Holding an OUPV (6-pack) captain’s license, along with advanced first aid training from his background as a combat medic, Captain David ensures every trip is not only fun but safe. He’s also a retired law enforcement officer and a certified instructor and investigator, giving guests confidence from the moment they board.
For Captain David, the best part of charter fishing isn’t just reeling in the big catch — it’s creating a stress-free adventure for his clients. From start to finish, he takes care of the details so all you have to do is relax, laugh, and enjoy your time on the water. His motto is simple: “Come as a customer, leave as family.”
Over the years, he has created unforgettable memories with families, church ministries, and nonprofits — even donating trips to support veterans and children with disabilities. One of his most thrilling catches? Swordfish — nothing compares to seeing a giant rise from nearly 2,000 feet below the surface. While David personally enjoys the calm of inshore fishing, he loves delivering the offshore adrenaline rush his customers crave.
Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned angler, Captain David makes sure everyone feels comfortable on board. He connects with guests on a personal level, keeps the atmosphere lighthearted, and reminds first-timers that even the pros make mistakes sometimes. His favorite advice? Go with experienced anglers, learn as you go, and give yourself grace.
When he’s not on the water, David is a dedicated husband and father of four. With one child in college and another still in school, his family keeps him busy — but he also spends much of his free time giving back. Deeply involved in nonprofit work, he’s committed to serving those less fortunate and believes in using his boat not just for business, but as a way to bless others.
